Choose a Finish

Mineral Oil

Mineral Oil is a food safe oil that keeps your hardwood countertop looking vibrant. This also allows the countertop to be used like a cutting board.

Sealed

Sealed Wood countertops may be stained and sealed with a protectant. This will help prevent some liquid absorption and give your countertops a slight sheen. However, sealed hardwood countertops are not to be used as a cutting board.

Care and Maintenance

Routine Cleanups

For regular cleaning of Solid Wood countertops, just wash with a damp cloth or sponge and mild soap. Then, rinse with warm water and wipe dry.

Repairing nicks, scratches, etc.

Lightly sand the area and re-apply the finish, be it mineral oil or sealer. Sanding down to bare wood is typically unnecessary.

Mineral Oil Finish

To keep your mineral oil finished countertop in peak condition, re-apply mineral oil at least monthly. Do not expose hardwood countertops to extreme heat, color, or moisture. Do not use harsh chemicals or detergents, especially bleach, as they will harm the finish.

Warnings

Always use a heat shield, hot pad, or trivet. Extreme heat can damage the countertop. Do not cut directly on sealed or hardwood countertops. Minor scratches may be repaired by should be prevented. Countertops must be wiped off immediately and rinsed thoroughly if they come in contact with any of the following chemicals:

Hair, textile, or food dyes

Oven cleaners

Toilet Bowl cleaners
